Purchasing Manager

Job Details

Responsible for coordinating the flow of purchased components and materials for manufacturing, including but not limited to: creating jobs in ERP, evaluating forecasted needs, issuing purchase orders, negotiating lead times, supplier follow up, identifying cost improvements, RFQ’s, and performing cycle counts to verify inventory levels.  Position is analytical and strategic along with a “boots on the ground” mentality.  This position also has a dual role in the scheduling/planning area as well, working with the Operations Manager and Production Supervisors.  Other duties may be assigned.

Qualified applicants will have a business degree and at least five years purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.  Candidates will also be familiar with word processing, spreadsheets, manufacturing software, and have worked with ERP systems.  Ideal candidates will have proven track record of on-time performance, history of supplier cost reductions, and supplier improvement initiatives.  Prior supervisory experience preferred, as this one person department will eventually grow!

Ability to track and prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment with several simultaneous projects.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Computer Skills: Word processing, Spreadsheets, Internet software, E-mail, Database software.
