Maintain facility cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance. Ensure a safe work environment for all employees. Participate in company and customer requirements. Participate in hiring decisions for production floor personnel. Set tactical expectation for production cell as well as the individuals within the cell.
Identify and effectively communicate driving issues, positive and constructive, that impact production and/or quality. Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. Maintain an appropriate and effective labor-management relationship with subordinates.
Support Human Resources in enforcement of company policies and practices. Support efforts through the investigation and resolution of employee altercations, observations of misconduct, and violation of company policies. Management of sensitive and confidential information is an absolute requirement in this role. Serve as a coach and mentor within the area and other areas, including supervisors, line leads, and direct reports. Has responsibility / accountability over the department for scheduling, planning, labor efficiencies, material, quality, and equipment for customer orders. Supports business schedules as appropriate, including overtime.
Works closely with Manager/ Supervisor to finalize performance reviews for employees within the department. Supports and creates effective teams, units, and environments by setting a positive example for others to follow. Impacts and promotes organizational strategy and vision.
Education/Experience: High School Diploma; two to four years related supervisory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The area supervisor will need to write routine reports and correspondence as well as communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. The ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, as well as draw and interpret bar graphs will be necessary. The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists is common. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form is necessary. Word processing, Spreadsheets, E-mail, Inventory, Manufacturing (ERP) software.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and use hands to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds. The vision requirements include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The position requires the ability to operate and maintain fork-lift devices, including walk behind and hand trucks.
